On the 9th of May, Turkmenistan celebrates the end of World War II (aka the Great Patriotic War), during which the Turkmen army fought against the Nazi.
The official end of WWII is logged as 8th of May, but because of the different time zone, Russia and other members of the USSR, celebrate the day after.
This day in Turkmenistan has literally become a family day where families go out and enjoy the day by taking part in the activities in the street and visiting war memorials and famous landmarks in the country.
For this occasion, I baked Turkmen cottage cheese cookies.
They look nice and they are light and crispy. I think I will make more of them!
